Paul is considered a
leading authority on Estimating for Plumbers, Metal
Roofing and Electrical Contractors.
For many years he has
provided informative and beneficial Business Tips to the
building and construction contractors.
Author of three books
and designer of leading software.
Raised in Camden NSW,
one and half hours south-west of Sydney. After
graduating from Liverpool TAFE as a plumber, he
relocated to Queensland to fulfill his dream of becoming
a Design Engineer.
Along the way Paul
developed a strong interest in post apprenticeship
education.
In 1980 he was appointed
a part time lecturer at the Queensland University of
Technology in Engineering Services. In his early years
he recognised a need for plumbing contractors to develop
skills in estimating large construction projects.
In 1992 he published his
first technical book, ‘Estimating for Plumbers’. Over
5,500 copies were sold before Paul provided it free of
charge on the internet, so every new trade contractor
would gain the benefits.
Between 1993 and 2015
over 6,000 plumbers attended his estimating courses in
Australia, USA and New Zealand.
Paul was the chairman of
the Curriculum Advisory Committee for the Diploma of
Engineering (Hydraulic Services)
In 2003 Paul was
appointed as a referee for the Building Disputes
Tribunal.
In the same year he was
awarded Life Membership of the Association of Hydraulic
Services Consultants Australia.
Paul published his
second technical book in 2006, ‘Pipe Sizing for Building
Services.’
His autobiography ‘In
Spite of My Eyes’ was published in 2007.
Since 1995, he has
enjoyed the role of designing estimating software as
well as modernising the On Screen Take-Off along with
other revolutionary construction software.
In 2011 he received the
Plumbing Industry Leadership Award.
Then in 2012 Paul was
honoured with the ‘Order of Australia Medal’ OAM.
Paul continues to mentor
young trade contractors and provide helpful business
tips.
He is currently serving
as a member of the Project
Team for the Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition Australia.
